Thank you, Kylie...ahem...where to begin...let's see. A friend of mine worked on the show during the first three seasons, and he confirmed this...Jason and Christine FIRST MET on the set for the episode "Wildfire," and they went out between filmings, so that's how they fell in love and stayed together for five years.
Now...where Emily is concerned...I can totally understand where she is coming from. She had to fight her way to be come part of the close knit 90210 group, and that is the exact same thing I had to do with my friends. You also can't blame Emily for wanting something grounded to hold on to. I mean, come on! Look what her father did for a living. In "Wildfire," she stated that her father wrote for several different papers and that made her and her family move around a lot. So, the only thing in her mind to grab onto and never let go is her relationship with Brandon, which to me kind of makes sense in a way, because if two people were in love like the two of them before that crisis that I can't mention *cough*the U4EA*cough*, it means that they can face adversity together and laugh in its face because they can come out of it unscathed and be more in love than before.
Now...with "My Desperate Valentine"...yes...she did lose her mind, but it was in fear of losing the one thing that she wanted most in the world that kept her sane...Brandon...so in a way, the relationship ending was both of their faults, but I'm not writing this to scrutinize the excellent pairing of Brandon and Emily, I'm writing to say how much I love this pairing...and don't get me started on Brandon and Nikki...geez!!! Anyway, back to "My Desperate Valentine"...good thing that Brenda found her on the float, otherwise she would have sacrificed herself for her love of Brandon, and honestly, I think that Brandon would have never forgiven himself for her death. It was very cool when Brandon visited her in the hospital in the episode "Walsh Family Christmas"...only once mind you, but still...once is better than none...Anyway...him giving her his prized '87 World Series jersey was a present from his heart, and she would treasure that always, as well as knowing that she would always be a member of the group.
With Season 4...after seeing each other on the cable car, you could tell that they were so excited to see each other. The relationship between the two of them really ignited with them spending Thanksgiving together and they finally sleep together after all that time...I was like "YES!!! FINALLY!!!" You know...I can understand why Emily was not wanting to go to the Cousteau Institute in France...she just got back into a relationship with Brandon and she couldn't go because she loved him so much, and him to her, expressing that love when he told her that he would move up to San Fran and go to school at UC Berkley just so he could stay with her...now that's dedicated! Anyway, Brandon got her to follow her dreams and she reluctantly went to France. After seeing that second goodbye, you could tell that a piece of them would always love each other, just like Dylan and Kelly...especially since they had Sammy together in the new 90210...
Now...I have not seen Season 5 yet, so that's my take on the relationship between Brandon and Emily through Season 4...if there is anything that you want to dispute with me about this pairing...BRING IT ON!!!
